A New Journey

August 20, 2016

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. Cliche I know, but true. Today I am starting my weightloss journey with a little help from my friends. I have always struggled with my weight, but I have always been able to lose a few pounds when I put my mind to it. Now I am a 43 year old working professional mother and grandmother. I am 5’4” and weight 193 lbs. It is not that easy anymore.

As a young woman, I wanted to lose weight for vanity purposes, but now I am concerned about my health and my quality of life. I want to enjoy life and right now, I am not. It seems that no matter how much I might want to lose, it was just not happening. Something new needed to happen. So I went to VIP Weightloss. I do not know what is going to happen, but what I do know is that I am going to do follow the plan to the best of my ability and I am going to share my experience with you. All the ugly fat truth, successes and failures. So here I go.

Yesterday, my husband and I went to the Jackson office of VIP Weightloss and had our assessment. The InBody scale is a super advanced piece of technology that tells you more than just your exact weight. It tells you the muscle/fat make up of each zone of your body. It is a brutally honest view of your health. I am glad I did it. It really opened my eyes to the need to improve my health before permanent damage is done to my health. Then on to blood work and vitals to be sure to put me on the program that fits my current health level. It makes me feel good to know that they are looking out for me. So I got what is called a “MIC” shot. A combination of vitamins and helpful compounds to help boost my body’s metabolism. I also received 2 prescriptions, one to take each morning and one to take each night. I can do that. I am not a big medicine person, but one pill at the beginning and end of the day is manageable in my busy life. They also gave me guidance on physical activity, a life changing nutritional plan, and how to accomplish both in my busy life.

So today I begin. I begin the change in my life. I have a treadmill, but I bought a gym membership also. I got up this morning, took my medicine, and got on the treadmill with a bottle of water. I only managed to walk 1 mile, but that is more than I did yesterday so I call it a win. I had a small breakfast burrito and a small orange juice for breakfast and packed 2 protein bars that I got from VIP Weightloss to take with me for the day. Now I am out the door with 2 of the 3 teenage boys that are still living at home to start a long day of volunteer work. I will check in everyday on Facebook. “Like” the VIP Weightloss page to follow my story.
