20 Sep Reverse Engineer from the Goal
Ever had deja vue? This week it happened to me. I was watching the NCAA Basketball championship when Villinova’s Kris Jenkins hits a 3 point shot at the buzzer to hand North Carolina the defeat and become National Champions.
I was reminded almost instantly of a 1992 basketball shot that has gone down in history as one of the most infamous shots in college basketball. Duke was playing Kentucky and , again at the buzzer, Christian Laitner, took to the shot and handed Kentucky defeat.
So I actually looked at both replays again this morning and realized something astonishing. Villinova was running a play. Kris Jenkins was trailing Ryan Arcidiacono and as they got within range the defenders were on Ryan and he flips the ball to Jenkins for the buzzer beater.
Now you might wonder what this has to do with anything really. Ask yourself. How many times do you think they practiced that play? How much time did they devote to “the goal”? Get within one shot so we can win with this play. They were ready. They focused on their goal and figured out how to attain it.
How about you in your business, life, free time, health, happiness, relationships, “insert your own goal here”? How much time have you devoted to your goal?
Something to think about…
