5 Signs of Low-Testosterone

Roughly one in four men over the age of 30 deals with low testosterone levels. While low t symptoms are rarely life-threatening, living with low testosterone still produces effects that can make everyday life more difficult. These five signs are by no means the only ones associated with low testosterone, but they are the most common indicators that you may suffer from this condition.

  1. Decreased Sex Drive
Testosterone plays a large role in regulating a man’s sex drive, so a decrease in libido is one of the most common signs of low levels. Keep in mind, though, that sex drives vary naturally from person to person.
  2. Erectile Dysfunction
Testosterone is not completely responsible for a man’s ability to maintain an erection, but it does aid in the production of nitric oxide. This chemical is responsible for causing an erection. In addition to erectile dysfunction, low testosterone levels can also hinder the ability to achieve orgasm.
  3. Hair Loss
While a majority of men will experience some hair loss as they age, low testosterone levels can cause it to be more severe than normal. This can include a loss of hair on the head and other regions of the body as well.
  4. Fatigue
People suffering from low testosterone can also experience a decrease of energy levels over time. Determining whether you have low testosterone based on feelings of fatigue can be difficult, though, since it can be attributed to any number of conditions. However, if fatigue occurs in conjunction with other symptoms, there’s a good chance that it’s indeed being caused by your testosterone levels.
  5. Body Changes
Most men who have low testosterone begin to notice a decrease in muscle mass coupled with an increase in body fat. The reasons for these changes in body composition are still not entirely understood, but most researchers believe that the mechanisms responsible for muscle and fat are tied to testosterone production as well. Even with regular exercise, it may be difficult for a man with low testosterone to maintain his figure.
